The moon of Nott is a small paradise world orbiting a gas giant, located within the Segmemtum Pacificus near to the Sabbot World's, although the exact location is unknown for several reasons. The planet of Nott is a beautiful green and vibrant place, full of wonderfully exotic vegetation, forming dense lush forests and gentle rolling hills, where equally exotic animal roam. Flocks of brightly coloured multi winged birds in the sky and cute, cuddly, fluffy animals roaming the forests, each about as dangerous as the average house pet.

The world's primary purpose is to provide recreational facilities for important servants of the Imperium, one of the reasons it's location is kept quiet, but the planet is also the location of a Schola Progenia. The world provides the perfect place to study the Imperium and the art of war, being able to offer a peaceful study environment and, with the aid of the neighbouring world of Sla, a place to practice for war.

Nott is one of three inhabited world's within the system. Nott and Sla are both technically moons which orbit the gas giant of Vindr. Sla is an airless moon, covered in massive sprawling factory complexes. While these factories do no produce any finished products, they refine and process numerous raw materials that are harvested from the gas clouds of Vindr and also materials from the asteroids that form the rings surrounding the planet. These materials are exported across the local sector and are used in other factories and forges of the Mechanicum and further refined and processed to produce a whole range of equipement and wargear for the imperium.

The final inhabited world within the system, and the only true inhabited planet, is Eyrr. Eyrr is a harsh unforgiving desert world where the inhabitants huddle together for safety and protection in great towering hive cities. For some strange reasons, Eyrr is considered a recruiting world for the Imperial navy, although no-one is sure why the navy recruits there as there are not star ports or dock yards within the system, just the loading yards for the factory complexes on Sla. All tat is know is that Navy ships appear every couple of years and recruit from the worlds population. This arrangement is popular with the ruling bodies of the various hive cities, as they are always keen to assist the Navy recruiters in finding and rounding up suitable "volunteers".

Both Sla and Eyrr are useful resources for the Schola Progenia on Nott and more specifically for the Scion regiment which members of the Schola join, the Dagr Ormr or in common low gothic, the Day Serpents. While the majority of the scion cadets education is carried out in the grounds of the Schola on Nott, the cadets also have the jungles on Nott, the inhospitable and unforgiving deserts and the deep dark under hives of Eyrr and the airless expanses of the factories of Sla to use as training grounds. These factories and hive cities not only provide training grounds but also enable the cadets to experience far more realistic and deadly situations than would be possible in a training arena. As part of the cadets training they undertake various navigation and manoeuvre exercises through the under hives of Eyrr and factory basements of Sla, and it is not uncommon to come up against criminal gangs, unholy cults and other less than friendly groups of individuals. Some of these meeting are managed with extreme care and bloodshed is avoided, however the majority of them are not bloodless. For many of the cadets, these encounters are the first taste of combat and for a few, it will be there last.

It is for these reasons that the Scions of Nott are specialists in close quarters fighting, especially within urban complexes. Although these training exercises, and the encounters, are recorded in detail, it is very rare that any action is taken against these enemies, even when cults dedicated to the gods of chaos are identified, although the area in question may find itself at the centre of numerous training exercises over the following weeks.

Over the centuries that the Schola on Nott has bee established, the Dagr Ormr have built up a wealth of experience in lightning fast hit and run operations and drop insertions either by high flying Valkyries or teleportation. As a result, they rarely use Taurox primes, even though they are trained to use them. In general, the Dagr Ormr prefer to teleport into a location before unloading a volley of well aimed and disciplined fire before withdrawing to extract. The Dagr Ormr will use there Valkyries and Vendettas for low level tactical drops and fire support if there are no other means of insertion, however this is usually a last resort option as they consider noise of the machines to put them at a disadvantage due to alerting the enemy of there arrival at the very time when surprise is most important. In addition, they rarely use there Taurox Primes for anything other than resupply missions, as they consider this to be a slow and cumbersome method of insertion, to restricted by ground conditions and terrain.

At present the regiment has several companies in action all over the sector and beyond. Deployed on Hjaltland and falling under the overall command of Inquisitor Sophiana, is the 56th Company, under the command of Tempestor Prime Agnarr. This company is formed of two platoons, each of three squads plus command squad. Commander Agnarr is in overall charge of the company and deploys with Dagalien or Dusk platoon. This platoon consists of the main command squad, Myrkr or Dark and 3 squads, Purple, Red and Green. Myrkr command squad contains the company standard bearer, medic and master vox-caster. The 2ic, Tempesor Prime Muninn is in charge of Daggri or Dawn platoon. This platoon consist of command squad Ljos or light and the squads Blue, Yellow and Orange.

While the 56th are technically under the control of the Inquisition, they can generally be found operating in conjunction with the Hjaltland forces, carring out high priority missions, such as target elimination or hit and run operations on enemy communication and supply bases, in addition to any missions designated by the Inquisitor. The 56th are also undertaking other missions, missions not authorised or sanctioned by either the Hjaltland command or the Inquisitor. These missions come from the upper command of the Nott Schola Progenium. These missions are undertaken to secure the source and supply chain of a number of key drugs used at the schola which are produced from the exotic plants and animals found on Hjaltland.

The Nott pattern Hellgun and Volley Gun

The Nott pattern hellgun is a compact, short barreled version of the hotshot lasgun and is one of the few items that is made locally, albeit in small numbers. The main gun is based in a modified MK4 Lascarbine pattern lasgun, much like the version used by the famed Catachan jungle fighters. The Nott pattern has a shortened barrel and circular magazine, designed specifically not to catch on vines, cables, branches, fences and other such obstacles. The weapon is topped with a powered scope, to display targeting and mission data in addition to enabling low light and night vision capacities. In addition to the hellgun, an even smaller nmber of Nott pattern Volley guns are also produced. These follow a similar pattern to the lasguns but are entirely of indigenous design. These guns are very compact and with a larger cylindrical magazine. While these guns are highly advanced and very powerful for there size, they are very fragile for a battlefield weapon and take a substantial amount of field maintenance to keep them in working order, one of the reasons that they have not been adopted by the wider Imperium.
